News from the CIRCLE THEATRE PLAYWRITING CONTEST!
We are incredibly proud to share that several of our students were recognized out of nearly 70 submissions in this year’s Circle Theatre High School Playwriting Project—an outstanding accomplishment!
Top 8 Semi-Finalist:
AHS Lillian Clark — False God
Top 4 Winning Finalists:
AHS River Russell — Fries, Not Tots
AHS Burnice Huddleston — Living With Guilt
To give you an idea of how significant this honor is, last year’s Top 8 semi-finalists received $200 and the winning finalists received $2,000 each. While this year’s awards have not yet been announced, this recognition places these students among the very best young playwrights in the region.
Our finalists will also be honored at a special reception, and the Top 4 winning plays will be brought to life as staged readings performed by professional actors—an incredible real-world theatre experience.
Students have received details about next steps, and we are now excited to celebrate them publicly. Please join us in congratulating these exceptional writers!

On Tuesday, 3/24, the Arlington Museum of Art is hosting a reception from 5-6:30 PM in honor of Youth Art Month.  Approximately 60 AHS kids' work is currently on display at the museum.  Come and check it out!
On Tuesday, 3/31, there will be a reception at the Center for Visual and Preforming Arts from 5-6 PM celebrating our VASE kids.  This show will feature the work of roughly 60 AHS kids as well.
The Art Team & our kids would love to see you at either of these events.  The work is FANTASTIC and we are very proud of our artists!

Our Visual Arts students showcased incredible talent at the Regional Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE)! 🎨 Students presented 67 artworks, and an amazing 60 students earned the top score of a 4, bringing home Regional medals. 🏅Even more exciting—8 students advanced to the State competition with 9 pieces! Congratulations to these talented artists for representing AHS so well! 👏🐎

She did it!

Junior Roby Antwine took home the bronze medal for 6A Theatrical Design - Costumes in Austin on Saturday!  Roby put in so many hours on this project and all of her hard work paid off in a huge way!  Please congratulate Roby on her representation of AHS in this STATE CONTEST!!!

Junior River Russell has been selected as one of the four GRAND PRIZE winners of the Circle High School Playwriting Contest!  River’s original short play will be featured at a professional staged reading in Fort Worth on Sunday, May 4th at 3:30pm!

Her play will be performed by professional actors, followed by a special talkback with River herself. As part of her amazing achievement, she’s also receiving a scholarshipԻfree tickets to several professional theaters in our area! We couldn’t be prouder.

Come celebrate and support River on her big day!
