Students embark on a clear academic crosswalk designed to earn them a high school diploma alongside tuition-free college hours or an associate degree from Tarrant County College.

Flexible Virtual Program for Juniors and Seniors

If you're already in high school, we have new virtual course options for you, too. This program is perfect for high school juniors and seniors who need more schedule flexibility but still want a vibrant, traditional campus lifestyle. Students can take up to two virtual courses and fit them into their own schedule.

The program blends asynchronous (self-paced) online learning in up to two virtual classes each semester with traditional, on-campus courses. Available virtual courses focus on junior and senior requirements like English III, English IV, Government, Economics, and Precalculus.

The is a initiative and partnership with 91直播 and the . The camp gives students the opportunity to learn quantum concepts that will impact their future.

The camp began in 2020 and has become a highly-anticipated summer learning opportunity for students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students explored advanced quantum physics concepts through hands-on learning, collaborative work, and problem-solving.听

鈥淲atching students explore and grow during the quantum physics camp is always exciting,鈥� said Robin Griffith-Yates, STEM Academy administrator at Martin High School. 鈥淭he way the teachers work with the students and help build their confidence surrounding quantum topics is amazing.鈥澨�

The camp is designed to engage students with new ideas early to build a foundation that can make future learning more meaningful. The camp activities are connected directly to concepts students will encounter in future chemistry, physics, engineering, and technology classes.

鈥淟earning about quantum physics exposes students to careers they might not have otherwise considered and helps them develop critical thinking skills they can apply beyond the classroom,鈥� said Amanda Benson, science teacher and camp instructor. 鈥淭his camp is important because it gives kids the opportunity to get curious about current science.鈥�

The Summer Enrichment Program is opening doors for 91直播 students!

Students from Sam Houston High School spent the past month improving their math readiness skills and working toward industry-recognized electronics certifications.

鈥淭his is a really hands-on program,鈥� said Selena Obara, sophomore at Sam Houston High School. 鈥淵ou get to meet a lot of people, you work with different people, but it's really good. You get a head start, and you just learn so much, it's fun.鈥�

This summer, 15 students passed the TSI math assessment, opening the pathway to enrolling in college-level math courses and advanced electronics courses this fall. The program is designed to inspire students in the field of electronics and engineering while blending academics with hands-on technical training.听

Nine students passed the , placing them among the youngest in Texas to do so. 91直播 is the only district in Texas with 15- and 16-year-old students passing the SACA exam.听

鈥淭his certification will help me a lot in expanding my academic and career experience, and it'll even help me land a job,鈥� said Alex Skilsky, sophomore at Sam Houston High School.

The students who earned the certification are already being recruited by major companies, including , with starting salaries at $75,000 directly after high school graduation.

鈥淭hat really pushed me and motivated me to go into this career,鈥� said Ibrahim Odunlami, sophomore at Sam Houston High School. 鈥淚t helped widen my view on electronics and engineering, and this is going to help me in the future to build my career and get paid more.鈥澨�

The Dallas Wings of Innovation STEM Camp returned for 91直播 students this summer. The two-day camp 鈥� led by in partnership with the 鈥� focuses on expanding opportunities for girls in science, technology, engineering, and math. Students learn about STEM concepts through a mix of athletic training, coding workshops, and engineering challenges.

鈥淲hen girls are introduced to STEM early, they begin to see themselves not just as users of technology, but as the innovators, engineers, coders, and leaders who will shape the future,鈥� said CEO and founder of STEM It Up Sports, Dr. Tonjia Grimble. 鈥�Programs like Wings of Innovation provide the confidence, exposure, and hands-on experiences that transform curiosity into possibility and potential into purpose.鈥�

Students also had the opportunity to participate in a basketball clinic, where Dallas Wings trainers helped connect athletic performance to biomechanics. The clinic helped students understand how physics, force, and motion impact every move on the court.

Throughout the two days, students got to learn in a robotics coding workshop, a coding obstacle course, tech art programming, and a drone clinic where students piloted through search and rescue missions.

They had the opportunity to hear directly from female experts working in the field at the lunchtime STEM panels.

鈥淚 think it's going to help with our future because it gives us motivation to do whatever we need to do to be successful in life,鈥� said Martin High School freshman, Khloi Sloan. 鈥淚t's really cool. You get to meet new people, you can have new experiences, and you get to learn how to use computers and electronics.鈥�

Members of the joined the camp to cheer campers on and create a supportive environment where students felt confident to try new skills. Crew members said the experience was just as impactful for them. Seeing these students light up with excitement helped to remind them why this mission matters.

鈥淭his is girl power,鈥� said Dallas Wings Flight Crew member Mariah Martin. 鈥淚'm truly thankful that they want Flight Crew here, and that we get to showcase what we do and cheer them on when they get to explore.鈥澨�

More than 1,100 students kicked off their summer vacation building robots, writing code, and discovering new passions at 91直播鈥檚 Camp Innovation. The district鈥檚 free, week-long technology camp is designed to inspire curiosity and confidence in learners from fourth through ninth grade. Now in its ninth year, the camp continues to grow in popularity with students and families across the district.

Camp Innovation is held over three weeks in June at the Dan Dipert Career and Technical Center, where students work collaboratively to solve challenges, create projects, and apply technical concepts in hands-on ways. The camp fosters creativity, critical thinking, and confidence while exposing students to future-focused fields in computer science, engineering, robotics, and digital design.

鈥淏eyond the technical content, Camp Innovation creates a positive and engaging environment where students develop friendships, practice teamwork, and discover new interests and talents,鈥� said Susan Anderson, 91直播 technology integration specialist. 鈥淢any campers return year after year, demonstrating the lasting impact the program has on inspiring a love of learning and innovation.鈥�

From the moment students walk through the doors, the focus is on exploration. Students rotate through sessions where they are met with hands-on, real-world learning experiences that build both technical and interpersonal skills. Each activity is designed to help students think critically, solve problems creatively, and collaborate with their peers.

鈥淚 think it鈥檚 cool to learn how to control a robot and see it progress,鈥� said Mackenzie Aylor, a student at Corey Academy of Fine Arts and Dual Language. 鈥淚 have gained a lot of knowledge from this place.鈥�

Camp Innovation is rooted in the district鈥檚 Technology Applications curriculum, giving students a meaningful head start in skills they鈥檒l carry through high school and beyond. When the week ends, students walk away inspired and ready to take on what comes next.

The Arlington High School FFA Wildlife Team wrapped up another competitive wildlife season with a trip to the State Wildlife Contest in Nacogdoches in April. But it also marked the final season for three Arlington High School seniors who have led the team to the state meet every year they have competed.

The trio is leaving behind a lasting legacy.

Seniors Spencer Doughty, Morgan Jones, and Zach Bastas achieved a rare level of consistency and excellence by reaching the state level every year, as they capitalized on the strength of 91直播鈥檚 agricultural science pathways and the opportunities available through career and technical education.

鈥淪tudents in Arlington FFA have endless opportunities to grow outside of the classroom,鈥� said Tanner Smith, Arlington High School FFA advisor. 鈥淭hey learn how to effectively public speak, how to answer questions about the topics they studied, and work together as a team to learn and present a script.鈥�

These hands-on experiences help students discover pathways they might not have realized were available to them, opening new doors to future careers.听

For Doughty, the wildlife contest led to a career path. He plans to attend Tarleton State University to study

鈥淏eing a first generation college student means a lot to me because I'm setting a new path for my family, and Arlington High School helped me get there through FFA and agriculture programs that helped me find my passion,鈥� Doughty said.

Jones and Bastas have both decided to attend Texas A&M University this fall. Morgan will study , and Bastas is going to major in finance.听

鈥淔FA has taught me many social and responsibility lessons that will help me excel in my future career, being able to talk confidently and know how to put my name out there,鈥� Bastas said.

Over the past few years, these students have had the opportunity to see every region of Texas while studying the wildlife across the state.听

鈥淚 am so proud of them and so lucky to have been able to spend countless hours coaching these three and traveling the state,鈥� Smith said.

The seniors said the encouragement from the campus agricultural science teachers and staff have been a driving force behind their team鈥檚 success.

鈥淢y FFA advisors have been the most supportive people in my high school career,鈥� Jones said. 鈥淚 am grateful for the clear and continuous guidance my teachers have offered me, giving me endless advice as I work to navigate this new chapter of my life.鈥�

As the three seniors move on, Arlington FFA will continue for the next generation.

鈥淎s coach Peach always says, 鈥楲eave a legacy,鈥欌�� Smith said. 鈥淭hese three have done just that 鈥� left their legacy here at AHS and for the future wildlife teams to come!鈥�

These Vikings are about to make history!

Lamar High School is getting ready for a celebration years in the making as the Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) program prepares to graduate its first senior class on June 1.

鈥淲e are incredibly proud of this inaugural class for paving the way for future Vikings and establishing a legacy of excellence for the Lamar P-TECH program,鈥� Lamar principal Lesley Maroney said. 鈥淥ur Lamar P-TECH students have demonstrated what is possible when students are provided with rigorous academics, industry experiences, and strong support systems focused on college, career, and workforce readiness.鈥�

All of the Lamar P-TECH seniors have earned college credit, and 70% will graduate with an associate degree or certificate from All together, they have secured more than $22 million in scholarships. Every senior has a defined post-graduation plan, whether pursuing college, trade school, military, or the workforce.

鈥淟amar P-TECH represents opportunity for students and prepares them for success beyond high school,鈥� said Aretha Hudson, P-TECH counselor. 鈥淲e are proud to provide students with the tools, college experiences, and career pathways needed to thrive in the future.鈥�

P-TECH programs are innovative, open-enrollment high schools that give students an opportunity to earn up to 60 hours of free college credit and industry certifications simultaneously. The Lamar High School P-TECH partners with and features academic pathways focused on cybersecurity and business.

鈥淥ur goal is to continue strengthening our industry partnerships and refining our pathways,鈥� assistant principal Teri Williams said. 鈥淲e want to ensure that every Viking who enters this program has a clear, supported route to a degree or a high-value career."

Before they put on their cap and gown for high school graduation, a group of 91直播 seniors have already crossed a different stage 鈥� one where they received college degrees!

Nearly 200 91直播 students walked the stage at 2026 commencement ceremony this past weekend, earning associate degrees weeks before receiving their high school diplomas.听

The students hail from Arlington Collegiate High School, Arlington College and Career High School, Bowie High School, and Lamar High School.

鈥淲e are extremely proud of the 91直播 students who are graduating with their associate degree from TCC before earning their high school diploma,鈥� said Traci Thomas-Bragg, director of postsecondary partnerships. 鈥淭hese outstanding students began taking college courses during their freshman year of high school and have achieved this remarkable accomplishment debt-free.鈥�

Through the district鈥檚 partnership with Tarrant County College, students are able to start taking college courses as early as their freshman year, at no cost to families. The early college and dual鈥慶redit programs allow students to complete up to 60 hours of transferable college credit, giving them a head start toward a bachelor鈥檚 degree or career certification.

This includes students enrolled in P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) programs, which blends high school classes, college courses, and industry training. Students study business and cybersecurity through P-TECH at Lamar and health sciences through P-TECH at Bowie.

Sometimes the best way to show appreciation for volunteers in Texas is with a line dance.

That鈥檚 exactly how 91直播 honored its most dedicated volunteers during its annual Volunteer Program Appreciation Celebration last week.

The 鈥淏est Volunteers in the West鈥� event recognized individuals who contributed more than 500 hours of service this school year, along with Campus STAR Volunteers selected for exceptional commitment to the district. The celebration opened with a line-dancing activity led by members of Arlington High School鈥檚 Colt Kickers dance team, followed by a recognition video spotlighting volunteers from each campus.

Volunteers shared how their service has become a meaningful part of their lives, giving them an opportunity to stay connected and involved in their campus communities.

鈥淚t's important for me to be a part of her scholastic journey and her athletic journey, but also the community of the schools,鈥� said Shelley Battle, a volunteer at Martin High School. 鈥淚t's a great way to stay involved, a great way to form partnerships.鈥�

Their service extends far beyond completing tasks. It鈥檚 about fostering relationships and supporting students in ways that matter.

鈥淏eing able to get involved really gives you that chance to experience their world. The student experience and the teacher experience are both elevated,鈥� said Gara Hill, Arlington High School volunteer. "It's really a way for you to connect with your kids and support their program.鈥�

The event was coordinated by the hospitality and tourism students at the 91直播 Dan Dipert Career and Technical Center in collaboration with the Family and Community Engagement department.听

鈥淓vents like this are significant because they give students authentic, hands-on experience while also allowing them to give back and celebrate the volunteers who support our community,鈥� said Emilie Barron, hospitality and tourism teacher. 鈥淓xperiences like this help students build confidence, professionalism, and the creativity needed for careers in hospitality and tourism.鈥�

The students were involved in the process of selecting the theme, designing decorations, coordinating activities, and building the menu.听

鈥淪eeing all the guests come in with smiles on their faces, it just makes you feel great,鈥� said Nicole Haro, Sam Houston High School hospitality student. 鈥淚t's a great opportunity. Everyone's excited to just be in this class.鈥�

While managing every stage of the event, the students gained firsthand experience in what it takes to plan and execute a professional event. The creativity, teamwork, and dedication came directly from the students.听

鈥淲atching all of our ideas actually come to life, it's really cool,鈥� said Jaiden Martinez, a Sam Houston hospitality student. 鈥淚 love this class. I'm definitely going to miss it now that we're graduating.鈥�

Beyond the awards and festivities, the celebration highlighted the importance of showing gratitude for the individuals who dedicate their time, energy, and resources to 91直播.

鈥淥ur volunteers bring in the heart from the community that helps to nurture and develop our students everyday and provide blessings to our staff and entire learning community,鈥� said Aaron Perales, executive director of Family and Community Engagement.

91直播 celebrated a major milestone this week as students in the automotive technology program at the Dan Dipert Career + Technical Center (CTC) were awarded scholarships through the Ford Cowboys Tech Scholarship program. The event marked the third and final year of a unique collaboration between , the , and 91直播.

Students gathered at the CTC as Ford and Cowboys representatives 鈥� including former Cowboys player Joe Looney 鈥� joined together for the scholarship presentation.

Six students 鈥� Andres Aguayo, Juscianni Blackeller, Jeremiah Jordan, Milton Mejia, Kaela Kasper, and Zarajane Parker听鈥� were awarded $2,000 scholarships, and all automotive students received professional鈥慻rade toolkits from Ford.

The scholarships and tools are a bonus on top of what the program has already provided, including industry workshops, mentorship experiences, and hands-on training with Ford technicians. The program also demonstrated to the students the growing need for skilled automotive professionals and the value of a career鈥慺ocused education.

鈥淚'm just really thankful we have so many opportunities, and this is another great opportunity with Cowboys and Ford,鈥� scholarship winner Juscianni Blackeller said. 鈥淚t's gonna help out a lot with the finances, so I'm really grateful for it, and I'm excited to get my career going.鈥�

This partnership has provided students with hands-on automotive training, industry鈥憀evel tools, and real鈥憌orld experience designed to prepare them for high鈥慸emand careers.听

鈥淏oth the teachers for Auto 1 and Auto 2, I would not be here right now if it wasn't for them,鈥� scholarship winner Zarajane Parker said. 鈥淚t's awesome that they believed in me because that helped me believe in myself.鈥�

The program at the CTC, paired with the partnership with two of the most recognizable brands in the area, has scholarship winner Milton Mejia ready for a career.

鈥淭his means a lot to me because my brother did it, too. He graduated, and my dad is a diesel mechanic,鈥� Mejia said. 鈥淭his class will actually impact you in the real world. You can learn so much in this class.鈥�

As these students move on from high school, they鈥檙e prepared with skills that are in demand.

鈥淥ver the last 25 years, there's been an erosion in skilled trades and workers going into these critically important fields,鈥� said Tait Stephens, regional manager at Ford. 鈥淭hat's why we're here. We need to show the men and women that are considering going into these fields that it's not just a job, it's a career. It's a career that you can be proud of.鈥�

It鈥檚 also a career these students are ready for.

When 91直播鈥檚 FFA hosted its first-ever multi-contest Career Development Event this spring, it brought together not only students from across the district, but generations of 91直播 alumni, too.

What began as a simple idea last spring turned into a major regional event thanks to partnerships with and , led by Arlington High School FFA alumni.

Tim Long and John Bennett, Arlington High Class of 1980, were both deeply involved in FFA during their time as students, so their enthusiasm for supporting today鈥檚 students came naturally.

鈥淭he students in the FFA program are our future,鈥� said John Bennett, director of operations at Cowtown Coliseum. 鈥�91直播 has shown its commitment to the students by continuing to expand the vocational program, and for these reasons, I feel it's my responsibility to support however I can.鈥�

The Cowtown Coliseum donated its venue space free of charge, providing a space to host livestock judging, poultry judging, and floriculture in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards.

鈥淧artnering with Arlington FFA for this judging contest is special to me because Arlington High School and FFA helped shape who I am today,鈥� said Tim Long, general manager at Cowtown Coliseum. 鈥淪erving as FFA president taught me leadership, hard work, and responsibility, and this is an opportunity to give back while supporting the next generation of students.鈥�

The momentum created by Cowtown Coliseum鈥檚 support didn鈥檛 stop there. Arlington FFA alumni continued to step forward, bringing a shared commitment to expanding real鈥憌orld opportunities for today鈥檚 students.

Jared Hall, Arlington High Class of 2012, was a four-year member of the wildlife team and currently works as a supervisor and wildlife biologist for the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. Hall and his team offered to host the wildlife and entomology contests at no cost and assisted with contest preparation.

鈥淚 participated in these FFA contests during my time as a student at Arlington High School,鈥� Hall said. 鈥淟ooking back, I now realize how pivotal those experiences were for my future. These contests help cultivate scientific curiosity, environmental stewardship, and the conservation leaders needed for the future.鈥�

The event at Cowtown and Fort Worth Nature Center hosted 328 students from 39 different schools in North Texas and surrounding areas, giving students access to authentic, hands-on learning and mentors who once stood exactly where they are now.

鈥淪tudents are using what they learn in the classroom and putting that into real-world applications, setting them up for success well after their time in high school,鈥� said Tanner Smith, FFA advisor at Arlington High School. 鈥淭he Cowtown and Fort Worth Nature Center partnerships took their experience to the next level.鈥�

91直播 honored 93 student鈥慳thletes during its districtwide ceremony today.听

The event celebrated seniors from six high schools who have committed to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level next year. These students earned more than $8.9 million in scholarships from 58 colleges and universities.

Student-athletes were awarded scholarships in 15 different sports, including football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, soccer, golf, cross country, track, softball, swim, flag football, cheer, and wrestling.

鈥淚'm proud of all the schools in 91直播,鈥� said Dashuan Marable, a football player at Seguin High School heading to West Texas A&M University. 鈥淚t really made me happy to see a lot of people grow up, and now we are achieving something better, so it's really a good feeling.鈥澨�

Families, coaches, teammates, and district leaders filled the 91直播 Athletics Center as each student walked the stage to be recognized for their achievement.

鈥淚'm really excited for the future, and I'm really thankful for my coaches preparing me for that next level,鈥� said Brandon Heath, a football player from Martin High School heading to College of the Holy Cross. 鈥淔rom the get-go, they've trained us like we've been college athletes, so that when we go to play at the next level, we're already ready.鈥�

The ceremony highlighted not only athletic excellence but also the discipline, academic commitment, and resilience required to reach the collegiate level. For many students, this achievement is the result of more than a decade of dedication.

鈥淚've been working for this moment since I was five years old,鈥� said Jayden Bibbs, a football player from Bowie High School heading to Oklahoma Baptist University. 鈥淚 grew up dreaming about this. My coach and my family, they always had trust in me, and I always had trust in them.鈥�

Many student鈥慳thletes said the moment felt surreal, marking the payoff of years of early鈥憁orning practices, late鈥憂ight homework, and unwavering support from their families and coaches.

鈥淚鈥檝e played volleyball since I was in third grade, and my family has never missed a game of mine, so them coming to every game really supports me and just pushes me to be better,鈥� said Kalysa Humbles, a volleyball player from Arlington High School who will play at Weatherford College next year.听

Students shared their best piece of advice for student-athletes.

鈥淵ou don't have to keep the same sport just because you feel like that's what you are meant to do,鈥� said Lydia Nichols, a cheer and tumbling athlete from Lamar High School heading to cheer at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. 鈥淚've done a lot of sports. I've done gymnastics, I've done weightlifting, track, and everything. Just have fun and do what you want to do.鈥�

That鈥檚 what Retta Hall did. The flag football and soccer player from Sam Houston High School will keep playing both sports next year at Texas Wesleyan University.

鈥淒on't let anything deter you: games, practices 鈥� everyone has bad practices, it took me a while to learn that," Hall said.听 鈥淜eep pushing through, and you'll eventually get to where you want to be.鈥�

Healthy Hub offers free food and wellness support

91直播 celebrated the opening of its first at South Davis Elementary last week in partnership with Texas Health Resources and Atmos Energy. The Hub provides families free access to fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy shelf鈥憇table foods, and nutrition education designed to support long鈥憈erm wellness.

The Hub was a big success on opening day. South Davis Principal Kalisse Kelly said the Hub provided food to 96 families, representing 437 household members. Families received recipes featuring ingredients available at the Hub, along with information on local resources. Each household will be able to visit the Hub twice a month.

鈥淭his initiative not only addresses immediate needs within our community but also lays the foundation for long-term wellness by empowering families to make informed, healthy choices,鈥� Kelly said. 鈥淚 am incredibly humbled and proud of what has been accomplished through the collective efforts of our school and community partners, and I look forward to seeing the continued impact this Hub will have on the families we serve.鈥�

Through the partnership with Texas Health, South Davis has also received a school learning garden, a free Scholastic book fair for all students, and a schoolwide yoga program promoting mindfulness and physical well-being. The school was also recently awarded a grant to support the South Davis Running Club.

鈥淪outh Davis was selected as the first 91直播 campus to receive a Good For You location as it clearly reflects a community need and is well-prepared to bring the program to life,鈥� said Matt Dufrene, vice president of Community Partnerships, Ambulatory and Virtual Channel at Texas Health. 鈥淧airing the Hub with existing Texas Health initiatives at the school expands support and creates a lasting impact.鈥�

The campus plans to host quarterly nutrition events at the Hub that provide valuable education, practical resources, and family-friendly recipes that support healthy eating habits at home.

Texas Health currently supports more than 20 Hubs in neighboring school districts, community centers, and nonprofits. The South Davis location is the first within 91直播 and reflects Texas Health鈥檚 commitment to creating school environments that strengthen the nutrition security of students and their families. The South Davis Hub is the result of 10 months of teamwork across 91直播 departments, including the grants department, food and nutrition, and facilities, along with our dedicated partners from Texas Health and Atmos.

Goodman Elementary fourth grader Delilah Salinas returned to school Monday morning in a way she never expected: on a fire engine escorted by first responders from the station that helped her family during a devastating house fire earlier this spring.

After the incident, Delilah spent nearly a month at Parkland Hospital recovering from second- and third-degree burns sustained in the fire. To help lift Delilah鈥檚 spirits on her first day back, the Arlington Fire Department arranged for an engine to pick her up at home and bring her to school.听

Her mother, Alexandra Salinas, said the support from first responders and the school community has meant a great deal to their family.

鈥淪he's been through a lot, but to see how happy she is 鈥� I haven鈥檛 seen her smile in a long time, so this is really cool. I appreciate everyone,鈥� Salinas said.

As the fire engine pulled up to Goodman, students and staff lined the sidewalk, cheering to welcome her back.

鈥淚t was surprising, I didn't know they were gonna be out there,鈥� Delilah said. 鈥淚 think the last time I saw them was the day before the accident, and all I heard was screaming 鈥榳e missed you.鈥欌�澨�

The fire department shared that being part of Delilah鈥檚 return was an honor and a reminder of the deep bond they share with the community.

鈥�We usually show up, put the fire out, and move on to the next call, but our job doesn鈥檛 end there,鈥� said Juan Mata, public information officer. 鈥�It鈥檚 about supporting families through recovery, and moments like this remind us why we do what we do. We are proud to be part of this great community.鈥�

Goodman principal Marisa Guzman said this moment was meaningful for the entire school community.

Two seniors from Martin High School are officially on their way to becoming engineers after being selected as , one of the most competitive STEM scholarships in the country.听

Months after submitting their applications, Tuyet Do and Julia Tran were surprised with the news during a guest speaker presentation in class. What began as a routine visit quickly became a moment they鈥檒l never forget, as the speaker announced that both students had been selected as scholarship recipients.

The Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship provides up to $40,000 in college funding and a paid internship at Amazon after the students鈥� freshman year of college. With thousands of applicants nationwide, earning this recognition is a major accomplishment.听

鈥淭his scholarship has definitely given us a head start,鈥� Tran said. 鈥淚've been struggling with finances and looking for scholarships, trying to find ways to afford college. Now, I can tell my parents that we don鈥檛 have to worry about money.鈥�

Tran discovered her passion for engineering through Martin鈥檚 drone team. She helped build drones from the ground up, gaining hands-on experience that set her apart in the competitive scholarship process. She is currently taking classes at the and completing an internship.

鈥淚 had no idea, so when I heard that I won AFE I was really happy,鈥� Do said.

Do is a member of the school鈥檚 HACK Club, where she explores coding, programming, and logistics. Last summer, she used her artistic talent to create visuals for a club event. She says blending creativity with technical skill is a combination that helped her application shine.

鈥淛ulia and Tuyet are guaranteed incredible paying jobs after their first year of college and will be able to continue to build their resumes as they work on their degrees,鈥� said James Hovey, computer science teacher at Martin. 鈥淚 am very proud of both of them and cannot wait to see where their journeys will take them.鈥�

Thirty-seven high school artists were selected as Visual Arts All鈥慡taters through the This distinction places them among the top young artists in Texas and recognizes their exceptional dedication to the visual arts.

The All鈥慡tate medals showcase the remarkable diversity of mediums, styles, and artistic voices found throughout 91直播鈥檚 high schools. From intricate drawings to expressive paintings, the students鈥� work reflects both technical skill and personal storytelling.

鈥淰ASE gives students a chance to express creativity and talent while gaining competitive experience with fellow artists,鈥� said Tricia Turner, Lamar High School art teacher. 鈥淭hrough art, students explore endless possibilities, deepen their skills, and expand their understanding of what art can be.鈥�

Earning All鈥慡tate status is the highest individual honor a Texas high school art student can receive. Students are evaluated in areas such as originality, technical ability, personal expression, and understanding of the creative process.

鈥淪imply reaching the state level represents the culmination of months of dedicated work, both in creating their artwork and developing the ability to professionally articulate their process concepts and artistic choices,鈥� said Sharon Miller, Martin High School art teacher. 鈥淭his ability to clearly communicate one鈥檚 ideas is a skill our art students will carry with them for the rest of their lives.鈥�

The State VASE event gives students a powerful chance to shape their artistic future by meeting directly with college and university art representatives who review their portfolios and may offer admissions acceptance or scholarships.

鈥淚鈥檓 grateful our state and district offer such a big competition for young artists. We look forward to it every year,鈥� said Elizabeth Fieler, Bowie High School art teacher.

91直播鈥檚 commitment to fine arts continues to open doors for students to explore and excel in creative fields. That support doesn鈥檛 just prepare them for events like VASE, it empowers them to discover their voice and confidently pursue opportunities that shape their future.

According to the Texas Art Education Association鈥檚 2026 District Administrators Summary Report, 32,456 artworks were evaluated at the regional level, with 2,154 advancing to State VASE. Of the 292 91直播 entries submitted to High School VASE Region 11S, 210 earned the highest regional rating.

Mary Moore Elementary sixth grader Kate Fulton is taking her best shot yet straight to Chicago!

After outshooting more than 112,000 students nationwide, Kate is advancing to the on April 18. She is set to compete against 11 other regional champions for the national title and the chance to have her name inscribed on the Elks trophy displayed in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

鈥淚 like basketball because of the competition, and it鈥檚 really fun,鈥� Fulton said. 鈥淭he first year I did it, I got second place. Then, I came back, and I just wanted to win it all!鈥�

Kate鈥檚 journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. She first won the Arlington Elks Lodge contest, then the North Central District shoot鈥憃ff, followed by the Texas Elks State Association championship. Kate secured her national spot by winning the 2026 Southwest Regional Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest after sinking 19 of 25 free throws. More than 20,000 students from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Louisiana competed in the Southwest Region alone.

鈥淚've had a few students go on to district, but Kate is the first one to make it all the way to national,鈥� said Gage Harlan, P.E. teacher at Mary Moore. 鈥淚n fact, she is the third 91直播 student to make it to national in all of 91直播 history.鈥�

Kate has attended Mary Moore Elementary since kindergarten, earning a reputation as an exceptional all鈥慳round athlete and dedicated student.听

鈥淭his is such a huge opportunity, she's our first ever student to do this, and so we're very proud of her,鈥� said Ravin Jackson, principal at Mary Moore. 鈥淜ate shows so much leadership on our campus, she鈥檚 positive, and brings so much energy to our campus.鈥�

To honor her achievement, Mary Moore Elementary hosted a clap鈥憃ut celebration on April 15. Students lined the hallways with handmade signs, cheering and high鈥慺iving as Kate made her way through the building. Girls鈥� basketball players from Martin High School and Seguin High School joined the celebration, offering words of encouragement as Kate prepares to represent 91直播 on the national stage.

鈥淚 just keep practicing every day I can,鈥� Fulton said. 鈥淚'm really nervous, but also excited, because I'm going all the way to Chicago and it's just a really big deal.鈥�

The Rodriguez Junior High band just made history.

For the first time in 64 years, the Rodriguez band (formerly Carter Junior High band) earned the Sweepstakes Award, the highest honor a band can receive in Texas UIL music competitions. The achievement marks a defining moment for students, staff, and the entire 91直播 community.

鈥淕etting to work with them on the podium and watching that growth unfold every day has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career,鈥� said Alexis Solomon, Rodriguez assistant band director.

Solomon explained that the band鈥檚 success didn鈥檛 come from shortcuts or flashy routines. It came from embracing the basics with purpose.

鈥淲e made a point to focus on the things that aren鈥檛 always fun but are essential to becoming a disciplined, mature musician: long tones, fundamentals, and detailed drills,鈥� Solomon said. 鈥淭he kids understood the purpose behind it, and they committed to it fully.鈥�

That commitment radiated on the UIL stage, where students demonstrated musical maturity far beyond their years. Junior high musicians typically only have two years of experience before being expected to perform at a high level, a challenge Solomon says the students met with determination.

鈥淭his accomplishment is a reflection of who our students are: capable, driven, and ready to achieve great things, regardless of circumstances or time on their instrument,鈥� Solomon said.

For many students, the win carried an emotional weight that went far beyond the performance itself. After months of intense rehearsals, they saw their effort turn into something historic.听

鈥淭he feeling of getting sweepstakes while knowing all the time, dedication, and hard work that went into it compares to no other,鈥� said Lupita, an oboe player in the band.

Roman, who plays percussion in the band, understands how historic their achievement is.

鈥淪ixty-four years of waiting. Every note carried hope, and every failure carried weight, but it all paid off,鈥� Roman said. 鈥淪weepstakes wasn't given, it was earned.鈥澨�

This award represents far more than musical excellence, it symbolizes a new beginning for a program raising the bar for every student.

鈥淗ard work pays off,鈥� said Chad Strother, head band director. 鈥淭he students really strived to rise to the challenge every day. Next year's students have big shoes to fill and the established pattern of excellence our kids started this year.鈥�

Students from schools across 91直播 spent the first week of April strengthening their commitment to mental health awareness as they celebrated Hope Week and participated in the annual Hope Squad Conference. These events showcased a growing network of student leaders in the district who are building school communities grounded in safety, connection, and compassion.

The Hope Squad Conference offered mental health programs for students from sixth through 12th grade. Students explored and discussed how to support their peers, recognize signs of distress, and build a culture of care on their campuses.

鈥淭his year's Hope Squad conference allowed opportunities for fellowship, connection, and reignited the passion behind the work,鈥� said Sarah Gray, 91直播 Guidance and Counseling Elementary Specialist. 鈥淗earing powerful testimony from guest speakers in breakout sessions and being able to collaborate with peers about the positive mental health support that Hope Squad programs at schools can provide was invaluable.鈥�

While the conference united students districtwide, Hope Week inspired individual campuses to lead their own mental鈥慼ealth focused activities. Throughout the week, trained Hope Squad members organized inclusive events at their schools designed to promote kindness, connection, and awareness. Hope Week allows mental health awareness and suicide prevention to be integrated into the positive campus climate in a developmentally appropriate way.

鈥淗ope Week and our campus Hope Squads foster a culture of care where students feel supported, connected, and empowered to support one another,鈥� said Telisa Brown, 91直播 Guidance and Counseling Director. 鈥淭his creates an environment that strengthens engagement, improves attendance, and supports academic success.鈥�

For many students, the conference offered a transformative experience that deepened their understanding of mental health and strengthened their commitment to showing up for their classmates.

鈥淭he conversations were not easy, but they were meaningful and necessary,鈥� said Seguin High School counselor Allana Moffett. 鈥淚 saw our students grow in empathy, courage, and their commitment to supporting their peers.鈥�

Even the youngest Hope Squad members felt the impact of the event. Dr. LaTonya Aidoo, Berry Elementary counselor, explained that her students were moved by the keynote speaker and enjoyed learning how to support one another.听

鈥淭his experience planted seeds of empathy, courage, and leadership that will continue to grow throughout our campus,鈥� Aidoo said.

The program continues to expand across 91直播, equipping students with the tools to recognize when peers may be struggling and to connect them with trusted adults. Students are taking the lead in strengthening a culture of care throughout the district, ensuring every learner feels seen, valued, and supported.

Flag football is back

91直播鈥檚 girls flag football teams are back and stronger than ever!

All six traditional high schools are competing once again in the , which kicked off its 2026 season on March 28.

Last year, all six 91直播 campuses officially launched girls flag football teams for the first time. With support from the Dallas Cowboys, the sport has quickly evolved from a new opportunity to a competitive force across the district.

Martin High School is entering the new season as the defending league champion.

鈥淭his sport is exploding, and we are hoping to help make that happen here in Arlington,鈥� Martin flag football coach Patrick Dunn said. 鈥淥ur girls work really hard, and they are excited about showing that on the field.鈥�

Players across the district share that enthusiasm, recognizing the impact the sport can have on future athletes.

鈥淲e see all the opportunities this sport is going to give us and others,鈥� Martin鈥檚 team said in a joint statement. 鈥淲e are looking forward to continuing to help pave the way for this sport and other young ladies.鈥�

Schools across the district reported there was a significantly larger turnout at tryouts this year, a clear sign of how quickly the sport is growing. Bowie High School coach Raymond Kitchen said the sport is catching the attention of athletes at every level.听

鈥淲e are seeing girls come out who haven鈥檛 been involved in athletics as well as multi-sport athletes. I love the discipline, teamwork, and accountability the sport brings,鈥� Kitchen said. 鈥淕irls flag football has a future and is here to stay.鈥�

For many athletes, the sport is opening doors for opportunities beyond high school.听

Martin High School seniors Lola Burks, Heaven Dixon, and Maria Rivera have each received scholarships from East Texas Baptist University to play flag football in college. Juju (Julianna) Christmas earned offers from UTA, Kansas Wesleyan, Shriner University, and Texas Wesleyan. Kenzley Sanchez received several offers from UTA, North Alabama, and Shriner University.

Their achievements highlight a strong year of academic and athletic success across the program.

鈥淎 lot of our female athletes are excited because it presents another avenue to go to college and get college paid for,鈥� Sam Houston High School coach Andre Miller said. 鈥淭his season, I am looking forward to building a foundation for our program that will last many years and continue to gain the interest of players.鈥�
