The Texas Education Agency is releasing the 2023 accountability ratings, reflecting significant statewide changes to how school and district performance is measured.
These updates included:
- Tougher College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) standards
- A redesigned STAAR exam
- A recalibrated growth model
TEA acknowledged that these changes shifted the 鈥済oalposts,鈥 making this year鈥檚 ratings not directly comparable to prior years. Under the new framework, campuses that previously earned an 鈥淎鈥 could now receive a 鈥淐,鈥 even if they saw academic growth, according to TEA.
As part of this shift, 16 91直播 campuses are expected to receive an 鈥淔鈥 rating for 2023 – from zero the year before in 2022, and 14 campuses receiving an 鈥淔鈥 rating for 2024. This change reflects how the new system calculates ratings鈥攏ot a decline in student learning.
Since then, 91直播 has acted boldly to support student success and long-term growth. Key initiatives include:
- Strengthened early literacy using the Science of Teaching Reading
- Delivered targeted training in math, writing, and English Learner instruction
- Established College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) trainings and systems for improvement
- Enhanced behavior support systems for safe, productive learning
- Completed a curriculum audit to align instruction with student needs
- Development and prioritization of professional learning strategy to support tailored instruction
